An update on Easton's hand...

Update on E's hand for those asking:  his hand looks amazing...the doctors said they can't believe how awesome it looked for less than a month out (last week)...he is using it again, has full range of motion and the scarring is minimal which gives us hope that eventually the scar will be gone.   We went from seeing the surgeon every other day, to twice a week, then weekly and now we have a 3 week span before we go again!  I used to have panic attacks before changing his dressing.  He would scream and I would feel nauseous knowing I was causing him pain.  Now, E's hand has to be moisturized multiple times a day and when he sees me pull out the cream he walks over and gives me his hand!  No tears and no pain!
The doctors keep saying that they just can't believe his progress.  They said it is incredibly common for a burn of this magnitude to get infected at least once...would be rare if it didn't...guess what???  Not one hint of infection :-). The doctor said to me "I don't know what you are doing but whatever it is keep doing it"...I wasn't sure what I was doing either but after a little reflection I realized what I may be doing that is different from what other burn patients receive...I am breast feeding!!!! Maybe I am crazy or maybe I am on to something...I don't know. What I do know is that I am so thankful that I have been successful in nursing both my kids, that it has been pretty natural for me, that I have an amazing milk supply (although I can't find a swim suit top to fit me), and that I have been fortunate enough to have no issues.  I know some aren't so lucky :-) ok...enough about my "girls"...
Below are 2 pictures of E's hand (if you are sensitive don't look).  The first is about 3 weeks after the accident and the second is today...almost 5 weeks later!

A beach day...

Aiden's school year has ended for regular pre-k but he is doing several enrichment camps since the public schools are still in session.  This week he is in a science camp focused around marine biology.  We figured since daddy had the day off and the weather was nice we would head to the beach after Aiden got out of school...it was nice to hang out on an empty beach, just the four of us.  The boys were in Heaven...both of my boys are beach babies.
Easton was fearless :-) he was on a mission the entire time...I'm not sure what that mission was, but it was so cute to watch him walk around, pick up rocks, sand, shells...really anything he could get his hands on.  He was soaking up the new scenery!

Aiden had a blast running around and jumping over the waves.  I remember being a kid and pretending the waves were chasing me :-). It warms my heart to see that certain things about childhood never change.
Daddy built one heck of a sand village...
I honestly didn't want the beach excursion to end...
While I was walking around with E some girls who I would say were in their early 20's paid me the ultimate compliment on a day that I definitely needed it.  They said that they hope they look like me after 2 kids...really???  Little do they know that I spent the morning trying to find a bathing suit top that fit my huge "girls" with no success... I was majorly down in the dumps :-/ ...so although I am a work in progress (especially since Leif has been home), I will take the compliment today because I work very hard to be healthy...first piece of advice put down the beer and cigarettes ladies ;-)
Anyone want a fitness post???

Weekend fun...

We kicked off the summer with an incredibly busy weekend...
Friday night we celebrated our neighbor, Paul's birthday!  Rosemary pulled out all the stops for a fun Maragaritaville party...
After a long night, Aiden slept in until 11:30 am on Saturday so we enjoyed some porch time with our littlest...
We dressed up our house to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice...
And we spent the rest of the day shopping, testing out opening day at the pool and enjoying the weather
Sunday was the real beginning of crazy...we spent all day at the pool, played corn hole, frolicked in the grass (what?  You don't frolick), and had an impromptu pizza party in the alley...
Easton carried around his slice of pizza all night hehe...he would take a bite and then play, take a bite, play...repeat!
Yes...I know I should cut it up into really small pieces but trust me, this boy is a hoss.  He laughs in the face of tiny bites!

Sunday morning we hosted a neighborhood brunch...
Followed by a nap :-). And more pool time...
After all of the fun, both boys were asleep by 7:30, and mommy and daddy were out by 9.
I definitely need to rest up if this is any indication of what summer is going to be like.  I'm not complaining though...it is better than the alternative!

Mothers Day

This Mother's Day was truly special for our family...first, the hubs is here to enjoy time with us and second, our kids were dedicated at church.  Leif and I have often discussed the fact that we want to raise our children in a faithful household where we allow our kids to feel comfortable to discuss beliefs, ask questions and even question the answers.  The hard part for us has been finding a place where we feel comfortable growing in our faith and helping our kids do the same.  Our wonderful friends have been amazing in aiding us in the process of finding our church home...and we believe we have found it.  So....our boys were dedicated to The Lord, to faith and we as parents made a public vow to lead and raise our kids in a faithful household. It was a great moment and even better that it was on Mothers Day...
After church we were attempting a family "selfie" when a sweet teen boy walked by and yelled "selfie" and then offered to take a picture for us...so glad he did because it turned out great...
After church we went home and I had some "me time" by the pool and by me time and pool I mean Aiden played in the plastic baby pool while I had a mimosa and read a book of recipes...
Midway through our tropical vacation hehe daddy and Aiden surprised me with homemade chocolate covered strawberries...I may or may not have told the hub that Aiden told me he was getting me that for Mother's Day...wouldn't want the boy to be disappointed when the strawberries never showed up!
Strawberries, a little sun and a mimosa...yes please!!!
The hubby had made reservations at my favorite chop house...I decided that I would save that for date night so we headed to my other favorite place...the yard house!!!  Seriously yummy food and libations...
Best part is the boys were beyond well behaved...such a peaceful meal...
It was such an enjoyable day...these boys are my whole world!  I take my job as their mommy very seriously and know that I am rewarded daily with their smiling faces!
